[Sca-List] Seeking Irish References

That is an interesting CD. I love Sting's voice and since he sang in a boys choir as a child, and in England that means, excellent vocal training, not to mention the Rich musical traditions. Anyway, I looked forward to hearing it. I found his renditions somewhat disappointing but very much enjoyed the format of the CD, the mixing of songs with readings of his letters to people. It told a portion of the story of Dowland.

Hope you enjoy!

Beatrice, know as Beatricia

...and if you like Dowland, check out "Songs from the Labyrinth" - Sting
(yes, that Sting) covers the 16th Century balladeer.

Oh, and before I forget, triviata to annoy the list with:

There is some contention that John Dowland, 16th/17th century lutenist,
was an Irishman. While his name's not exactly the most famous, Philip
Dick was a fan, and used the title of one of Dowland's songs "Flow My
Tears" as a partial title for one of his books (that being Flow My
  Tears, the Policeman Said).

  Kieran,
Who spent way too many years reading Philip Dick stories
