Unto My Esteemed Superiors and the Populace of Noble Caer Galen,

Do I, Ian of Nightsgate, Caer Galen Rapier Marshal,

Send Autumnal Greetings,

Tuesday and Sunday practices continue as previously recorded. During December and January approximately 5 practices were cancelled due to the holidays and schedule conflicts. On average, Tuesday Practices field 6 to 8 fighters in attendance and Sunday practices have fielding between 8 and 14 fencers. Both Tuesday and Sunday practices have enjoyed increased attendance during the last two months.

Fencing in the Barony remains stable with modest gains or losses in participation to report. During February there was one blade break. The blade was an older epee of unknown manufacture (no definitive maker's marks); however, the blade broke in a clean and flat fashion, the action halted immediately and there was no injury to the fencers involved. There was one minor injury when Don Thomas and his cadets (Meryln and Faust) were warming up with a medicine ball. A gentlewoman was invited to warm up with them and, not realizing that the ball being tossed was a medicine ball--not a basketball, failed to stop the ball when it was tossed to her. The ball hit this gentlewoman in the face and slightly stunned her and caused some discomfort to her nose. The injury was not severe and no medical personnel were summoned. The gentlewoman returned to the practice floor later that evening.
