What's that you say? The "Current Middle Ages?"
You heard right! Caer Galen is a chapter group in the historical recreation organization known as "The Society for Creative Anachronism," or "SCA" for short. The SCA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the better qualities, and education, of historical living (i.e. no plague, destitution, or slavery). The SCA focuses from the time of the Roman Empire to the end of Queen Elizabeth I's reign, and encompasses historical Europe, parts of North Africa, and Asia. The SCA is broken into "Kingdoms" across the "Known World." Kingdoms are further organized into "Baronies, Shires,etc."

If you live in Longmont, Boulder, or Broomfield, you are likely living in the barony of Caer Galen. We are a fun group with a family atmosphere. We pride ourselves on our hospitality. We have members of all ages. We love our diversity. Please come visit us and say "hi."
New Champions
As the seasons change and We find the warming face of Sol turning his regal face to Our fair Vale of Song, We find Ourselves and Our populace entering the campaign season. With that, We have procured new champions to assist Us in waging joviality, honor, and valor upon the Known World.
In order to make space for Our newly honored Champions, We must, regrettably, release and turn out to the green pastures Our Champions of old, Lord Bailey Wall - Armored Champion, The Honorable Lady Brigid inghean Sheaín - Rapier Lieutenant of the Guard, Master Michaelangelo Francesco di Genoa - Cut & Thrust Champion.
Know you all that you will always have a seat at Our table.
Gurkenlanshaft was resplendent with heroic acts, valorous deeds, and humbling feats that would make a stone weep. From this event We have ascertained Our Champions for the year, incuding Our inagual Thrown Weapons Champion!

A note about this site
The website you are currently viewing is being depreciated. It has been a labor of love over the the many years, but the time has come for new iteration to come into the forefront. The sunset date is slated for sometime this summer. Updates to these pages will become more infrequent as the sunset draws closer. The baronial calendar will be maintained. Announcements regarding this matter will be posted on the Socials.
It has been an honor to bring this website to the populace, and rest assured the the new iteration will be even better.

Summer practice changes
Good day all!
As it was announced at the May Folkmoot, the summer practice site is moving. The City of Longmont has repurposed a majority of the southwest corner of Roosevelt Park (where we have had summer practice for years) to expand and upgrade the playground that is directly north.
Their Excellencies, Seneschal, and Knight marshal discussed various alternative locations and decided upon Thompson Park as a viable solution. Thompson Park is just south of Roosevelt Park, is sizable, and has adequate lighting if people desire some practice after sunset. It has many of the same amenities as Roosevelt Park.
It is located at 420 Bross St (literally two blocks south). So starting on June 2nd, we’ll congregate at the southwest corner of Thompson Park for fun, fighting, and frivolity!

Local riding practice is held at H Bar C Ranch Equestrian Facility. It is open to all. Both seasoned riders and non-riders are welcome! There are many ways to get involved without a horse (but please wear closed-toe shoes). The clubhouse has amenities available, including-

bathroom with a shower
Practice will be held on the 4th Sunday of every month
Site opens at 9am
Main riding/practice from 10am til noon
Break for lunch, then
Open arena for training after lunch til 2pm

A weekly Fighter Practice is held every Tuesday at Roosevelt Park through summer. 700 Longs Peak Ave Longmont, CO 80501. We will be on the southwest corner of Bross and Longs Peak. Practice starts around 6:00 and ends at 9:00.

Caer Galen will be moving to our winter Fighter Practice site one month later than in the past, starting October 7, 2025.

We do limited demonstrations for schools, libraries, and other groups. Our demos can include just about anything from armored combat and discussions about chivalric virtues to arts and science classes.
